Weekly Steampunk Update #4

Welcome, one and all! This week, I have curated three stories, each showing how steampunk continues to be shine in our culture.

The Stories

Alice in Butteland

At Butte High School in Butte, Montana, the drama club has caught the steampunk bug. They recently put on on a version of Alice in Wonderland, re-dubbed Alice in Butteland, and are combining local history with the classic story.

In the late 19th century--in other words, during the same era as most steampunk--Butte was a mining town. Mining and other bits of Butte lore found their way into this production.

If you're in high school or college drama, consider suggesting the addition of steampunk to an existing play.

Steampunk at Science North

Lacey Lucidity

On Saturday, April 8, the Spectacle Fantastique Gala took place at Science North in Ontario. Features included a Gala Dinner, open bar, live music, a steampunk photo booth, auctions, and a lot more. The linked article includes a good description of steampunk, including the sort of attire we steampunks like to wear to events.

SteamCirque: Circus Vargas Goes Steampunk

If you live in Ontario and missed the Spectacle Fantastique Gala, don't worry, there's another steampunk-inspired event happening in your area until April 27. Circus Vargas is in town with a show about "an imaginary Victorian city far, far away."

Wild Steampunk News

Just some brief updates here! I'm half-way through the final draft of Bodacious Creed: a Steampunk Zombie Western! Look for that in trade paperback and for Kindle on Amazon in the next few months. If you want to know exactly when it comes out, just enter your email address in the form below and send that off. You'll also get a prequel story to the novel for free.

Eventually I want to do this blog, write fiction, and create great steampunk and related video content for you all as my full time living. That means more for you to enjoy. Patreon is a website that helps creators make a living doing what they're best at. It allows those who enjoy great content support it. If you enjoy my content, consider chipping in $1 or more per month to my Patreon.
