Interview with Justin Katz of The Edwardian Ball

Recently, it was my honor to interview Justin Katz of the band Rosin Coven, and co-founder of The Edwardian Ball, a glorious one-night event celebrating the imagination of Edward Gorey with circus-style performances, music, games, vendors, and more, where nearly everyone comes in costume.

Read more about the event in my previous entry, Bodacious & Sundry #13, The Incredible Edwardian Ball in Hollywood, and check out the links below.

So, where’s the interview if not here in The Mostly Steampunk Blog? It’s in The Mostly Steampunk Podcast! You can enjoy it on YouTube, , iTunes, or Podomatic . Don’t forget to subscribe while you’re at your preferred site.

Justin and I talked about what guests can expect at The Edwardian Ball, the groups involved, how to come up with a costume, and much more. The video version shows a slideshow of images from past events, the double meaning of “Edwardian,” the steampunk influence that is now part of the event, and a lot more.

At the end of the podcast, I shared the progress on my and my son’s costumes for the ball. They’ve set us back more than a little, and donations to help me cover the cost are welcome. I’ve set up a GoFundMe campaign at http://gofundme.com/j-c-edwardianball. Think of it as akin to a class field trip fundraiser, and it's not just for me, it's for my 8-year-old son as well. This will be his first geek-related event since he was a year and a half old.

I want it to be worth while for those who help us as well, so here are the rewards per funding level.

$1.00 or more - You get to read the first six chapters of Bodacious Creed: a Steampunk Zombie Western before the book's publication.

$10.00 or more - You get an ebook copy of the finished novel on publication.

$50.00 - $74.00 - You get a trade paperback copy of the book.

$75.00 - $99.00 - You get either a signed paperback copy of the novel, or a limited edition unsigned hardcover copy.

$100 or more - You get a signed limited edition hardcover of the novel.

That aside, I hope you enjoy the interview. The Edwardian Ball takes place on February 27 in Hollywood, so if you will be in the area, get your tickets now!
